"Hey Fatass": Mobile App Card Tracks Your Dietary Habits
September 5th, 2025
BOONE - App State introduced a new health initiative to improve student dietary habits with help from a little-known feature of the mobile App Card called Eating Direct. After swiping in, ED will make live comments on student food choices and offer encouraging feedback such as “Feeling gluttonous today, huh?” and “I think that’s enough."
Mental health ambassadors praised the decision, as orders from Nutraslice have slowed since the implementation of ED. One ambassador told the Rotten Appal Culinary Team that, "ED is absolutely a step in a healthy direction. It helps students meticulously count their calories and make healthier choices."
“I walked by the ice cream machine, barely even glanced at it and it said, 'Don’t even think about it,’” one student reported.
Other students reported getting messages like, "Yeesh, soda again?" "Cookies and Ice Cream...?" and "Maybe keep it to one plate today."
ED starts at the doorway. After scanning in, some students reported the seeing friendly greeting, “Hey fatass!"
